Leisure & Hospitality
Refurbishment, building services and reactive maintenance for pubs, restaurants, bars and leisure venues — planned around trading.
QNEXA delivers refurbishment, maintenance and building-services support for restaurants, pubs, bars and leisure environments.
Hospitality buildings work differently from ordinary commercial spaces. A maintenance problem can affect tonight’s service. A refurbishment programme may need to work around bookings and opening hours. Electrical, plumbing, ventilation, flooring and finishes all need to withstand demanding, high-traffic environments.
QNEXA approaches hospitality work with those operational realities in mind. From planned improvements and refurbishment to reactive repairs and ongoing maintenance, we coordinate the trades and services needed to keep venues safe, presentable and operational.

Refurbishment and improvement works
Hospitality spaces experience constant use. Over time, finishes deteriorate, layouts change and customer expectations move on. QNEXA can coordinate refurbishment and improvement works including:
- Bar and restaurant refurbishment
- Front-of-house improvements
- Dining-area refurbishment
- Bar-area works
- Commercial kitchen building works
- Washroom refurbishment
- Flooring
- Painting and decorating
- Partitions and ceilings
- Doors and joinery
- Lighting alterations
- Electrical works
- Plumbing
- Heating and ventilation works
- External repairs and decoration
- General building-fabric repairs
- Final cleaning and preparation for reopening
Projects can range from targeted improvements to wider multi-trade refurbishment.
Front of house
In hospitality, the building is part of the customer experience.
Customers notice lighting, decoration, flooring, washrooms, furniture layouts and the overall condition of a venue. QNEXA can coordinate improvement works across customer-facing areas while considering both appearance and durability.
Materials and finishes should be appropriate for commercial use, particularly in areas experiencing heavy footfall, regular cleaning, food service and movement of furniture.

Back of house
What customers do not see can be just as important as what they do. Kitchens, storage areas, staff spaces, service corridors and other back-of-house environments need to remain practical, maintainable and suitable for intensive daily use. QNEXA can support building-related requirements in these areas, including:
- Electrical works
- Plumbing
- Lighting
- Ventilation-related works
- Wall and ceiling finishes
- Flooring
- Doors
- Repairs
- Decoration
- General maintenance
Where specialist commercial catering equipment is involved, requirements can be coordinated with appropriately qualified specialist contractors.
Planned maintenance
Good maintenance helps prevent small problems becoming operational problems.
QNEXA can provide planned building maintenance around the requirements of the venue. This may include regular inspection and maintenance of building fabric, lighting, plumbing, decoration, doors, fixtures and other agreed areas. Planned works can be scheduled around quieter trading periods wherever practical.
Reactive maintenance
A leaking pipe, electrical fault, damaged door or failed light cannot always wait until the next planned visit. QNEXA can coordinate reactive building repairs for hospitality and leisure environments, including:
- Plumbing faults and leaks
- Electrical problems
- Lighting failures
- Damaged flooring
- Door and lock issues
- Ceiling damage
- Washroom faults
- Decorating repairs
- Building-fabric damage
- General maintenance
The priority is to understand the problem, determine the appropriate response and minimise unnecessary disruption to the operation.
Working around trading hours
The venue still has a business to run while work is taking place.
Where premises remain operational, QNEXA can plan works around opening hours, reservations, events and peak trading periods. Depending on the project, this may include:
- Morning works before opening
- Evening or overnight works
- Monday or quieter-day programmes
- Phased refurbishment
- Weekend or closed-period works
- Segregated working areas
- Controlled deliveries
- Noise and dust management
- Daily cleaning
- Making areas safe before reopening
Higher-disruption activities can be programmed outside trading hours where practical. The programme is agreed around the actual operation rather than treating the venue as an empty construction site.
Fast-turnaround works
Hospitality refurbishments often have a very specific commercial deadline. A restaurant may close on Sunday night and need to reopen later that week. A bar may have works planned between major trading periods. A venue may need improvements completed before an event or seasonal peak.
Where the scope allows, QNEXA can structure works around defined closure periods and coordinate trades to make effective use of the available programme. This requires preparation before the first day on site — confirming scope, materials, access, trades and sequencing in advance.
Typical programme
Programme length depends on scope, site conditions, procurement and whether the venue remains operational. As a general indication:
Where work must take place entirely outside trading hours, the overall programme may be longer even where the actual construction time is relatively short. A project-specific programme is developed following survey and scope confirmation.
Understanding the operator’s side
QNEXA’s approach to hospitality is informed by direct experience of operating a live restaurant business in the UK through Villas Brazil. That experience provides practical understanding of what building work means from the operator’s side.
- A delayed reopening can mean lost revenue.
- Friday evening is not the same as Monday morning.
- Customers should not be walking through unfinished work.
- Kitchen, washroom and front-of-house problems become operational problems quickly.
- Contractors need to communicate clearly with the people actually running the venue.
This operational experience is not presented as a QNEXA contracting case study. It provides something different: first-hand understanding of the environment our hospitality clients operate within.
One partner across the venue
Hospitality premises rarely have problems that fit neatly into one trade. A refurbishment may involve decorating, flooring, electrical works and plumbing. A leak may damage a ceiling and decoration after the plumbing repair is complete. A washroom refurbishment may require building, plumbing, electrical and finishing trades.
QNEXA coordinates these requirements through one relationship.
Our involvement does not have to end when refurbishment is complete. QNEXA can continue supporting the premises through planned and reactive facilities requirements, creating continuity between the people improving the building and those helping maintain it afterwards.
Why QNEXA for leisure and hospitality
Because we understand that your premises are not simply a building — they are where your business happens. Every day that a venue operates, the building has to support employees, customers, suppliers and the service being delivered inside it.
Plan properly. Communicate clearly. Protect the trading environment. And get the venue back to business.
